Finding a parking spot is more often than not  stressful and tiresome. That’s why Google is rolling out an update to the parking difficulty icons feature the company launched earlier in January, and introducing a brand new one.

Parking Difficulty

To see how hard it might be to park at your destination, get directions and look for the parking difficulty icon at the bottom of the screen. Parking difficulties span  from limited to medium to easy and are based on historical parking data with a little machine learning magic.

Find Parking

In the US cities listed below, people can tap “find parking” on the directions card to see a list of parking garages and lots near their destination. After tapping their selected option, it’s automatically added to their trip. And they’ll even get walking directions from their parking spot to their  destination.

*Parking difficulty icons are now available in the following cities: Alicante, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Cologne, Darmstadt, Dusseldorf, London, Madrid, Malaga, Manchester, Milan, Montreal, Moscow, Munich, Paris, Prague, Rio de Janeiro, Rome, Sao Paulo, Stockholm, Stuttgart, Toronto, Valencia, Vancouver

**People can now find parking in the following US cities: Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas/Fort Worth, DC, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York City, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland, San Diego, Sacramento, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Tampa.

A quick reminder: after you park and run out of car to do your errands, returning to your car can be a problem, if you forgot where you actually parked it. Hopefully you’ve remembered another option in Maps, to mark a place where your car is weaiting for you.
