Earlier this year Google announced Cloud Search service for its business users. Besides its feed, Cloud Search allows users to search through their organization’s various Google services.
Starting today, this service gained new capabilities that will make it easier for users to find files and details they need, namely it’s adding NLP to surface Google Drive documents, Calendar events, contacts, emails, and Google Sites through colloquial queries like “Docs shared by Mary.”
Not only that, users can also ask the system what files need their attention (“What docs need my attention?”), and Cloud Search will find them files with unread comments or edits that might require intervention.
Why is this important? Gartner research showed that questions with the words what, who, how, or when will comprise 30 percent of all enterprise search queries within the next year. Having a product that can answer those questions is important.
