Google is making it a little easier for Google Drive users to collaborate with one another. Google Drive is getting a new feature that lets users comment directly on Microsoft Office files, PDFs and images uploaded on it.

Though users can already view Word, PowerPoint, and Excel files that are stored in Google Drive in a preview pane, but to insert a comment into one of the documents you had to convert it into either a Google Docs, Slides, or Sheets file first.

Howeverfrom today, that is no longer the case, users are now able to comment, assign tasks, and mention coworkers directly from the Drive preview pane.

In its blog post on the new feature, Google stresses that this feature is the fruit of its relationship with Microsoft. It also notes that users can already download a Drive plug-in to make it easier to insert Drive files into Outlook emails.
