Obviously, a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but it’s possible Google may be targeting a wider audience by deemphasizing the ‘work’ aspect from the name. Google claims the name better reflects the mission of helping people everywhere work and innovate together.

One of the more important components of Google Cloud is the suite of apps that make up Google Apps for Work, including Gmail, Calendar, Drive, and a handful of other popular products. This suite of apps is now fittingly called G Suite, and Google has taken the opportunity to sprinkle in a few new features as well, because why not.

It all falls under Google Cloud (the backend powering everything) and will encompass Chromebooks too. Nope, definitely not unnecessarily complicated at all.

  •  As for the new features, Google says that it’s bringing machine intelligence to more services, starting with Google Drive.
  • What we can hardly wait for has also been announced. Google is launching a new product today called Team Drives. It essentially gives teams a shared cloud storage space.

The company promises G Suite will continue to grow, with built-in collaboration being the name of the game.
