Globally, there is a shortage of skilled IT workers. How come? Obviously, the technology is developing faster then the need of IT professionals is recognized in education. The current moves the governments make are long overdue.
E.g. currently millions of people operate vehicles for a living. What will happen to these jobs when self-driving vehicles become part of our daily reality in the next 5-10 years?
Failure to transform and adapt education may undo the very building blocks of any nation’s innovation base. A frequently referenced projection claims that 65 percent of children entering school today will work in job types that don’t currently exist.
To face these challenges, we must promote a culture that values combination of both soft and hard skills, lifelong learning and adaptability, global awareness and ongoing collaboration among industry, academia and the public sector.
