After introducing custom templates in Google Drive in November 2016, the company is taking a step further to make it easier on G Suite users to manage admin privileges when dealing with templates. On a company-wide level, it is important that the template gallery harbours only relevant and approved templates. By granting new template privileges to admin will make it easier on both, admin and end users who are creating templates as the admin has to approve them in order to be visible to all users in the domain.
